Frequently Asked Questions
How does a project material calculator work?
It turns measured area or volume into a raw quantity, applies your chosen waste, divides by selected package coverage and rounds up to complete packages. The shopping list preserves product identity and shows extra quantity created by rounding.
Why must I choose waste?
Waste is a project choice, not a universal number. Enter your selected value, including zero, and check its effect on buying quantity. Read the waste allowance guide.
Will the estimated leftover all be usable?
No. Excess above raw quantity includes your waste allowance and rounding. Some material may become offcuts or be consumed during application. Rounding excess shows what is above the waste-adjusted plan.
Can I combine rooms?
Yes. Save each surface as an area. Matching material, region, product identifier, coverage and package format are grouped before rounding. Wallpaper and carpet cuts stay separate. Give different colours, finishes and batches distinct identifiers.
Are packages verified in every region?
No. Catalog records apply only to the product and region shown. If none matches, enter your current label. Selecting a region does not imply local availability.
Can measurements and package coverage use different units?
Yes. Feet or metres are independent of coverage units. Changing the measurement unit converts existing dimensions and opening areas; it does not change the selected package.
Does drywall quantity choose thickness?
No. It uses your selected sheet coverage without choosing thickness, spacing, ratings or construction requirements.
How are wallpaper rolls calculated?
The tool counts full drops, your trim and straight pattern repeat. Openings remain in full drops. Half-drop or complex patterns need a supplier cutting schedule.
Does the carpet tool optimize seams?
No. You choose direction, roll width and sale increments. It counts rectangular runs without positioning seams or modelling stairs and patterned carpet.
Where is my project stored?
On this browser when you save an area. It does not synchronize. Remove saved areas or clear site data to delete it. Print a copy before changing devices.
How do I print or report a problem?
Choose “Print shopping list” after saving material. Your browser may also save a PDF. Report problems to appsdevacademy@gmail.com with the values, units and result.
